Saturated steam at temperatures below 100°C is called vacuum steam.

Vacuum steam is generated at higher pressures after which its pressure is reduced by using equipment such as pressure reducing valve.

  •  A vacuum pump is also usually used to achieve necessary pressure differential at start-up to enable the smooth release of condensate.
ADVANTAGES

  1. Production of saturated steam for heating below 100 degree Celsius
  2. Improved productivity and product quality
  3. Temperature can be quickly and precisely established
  4.  Smaller required heat transfer surface area, enabling reduced initial equipment cost
