HOW TO SELECT A BOILER?

HOW TO SELECT A BOILER?

When writing to the boiler manufacturers, the following information should be furnished to them:
  1. Lowest ambient temperature likely to be reached during a year at the proposed place of operation.
  2. Elevation of the place above MSL
  3. Maximum working pressure
  4. Maximum steam demands at the working pressure of the boiler.
  5. Fuel to be used and its analysis report.
  6. Whether the load on the boiler is likely to be steady or fluctuating and if fluctuating, then between what limits?
  7. Analysis of the raw water to be used in the boiler after treatment.
  8. In the case of solid fuel fired boilers, whether mechanical firing is preferred.
  9. In the event of any proposed standardization of both the HPs & the make of electric motors that fact should be intimated.

Information the Manufacturer should be requested to furnish
  1. Gross Efficiency of boiler
  2. Accessories included
  3. Quality of steam dryness fraction
  4. Flue gas temperature
  5. Grate area(for solid fuel fired boilers)
  6.  Expected  evaporation(kg of steam at working pressure/kg of fuel)
  7. Heating surface area
  8. Delivery Period

What is Mobrey

What is Mobrey? Mobrey  is the name used for the  Automatic water level controller , it comes under the category of mountings and fittings of  Steam Boiler Assembly . As the name suggests, it is used for maintaining the water level in the Boiler shell. It is mostly used in  smoke tube steam boilers  not in  water tube boilers , as the shell diameter of the former is greater than that of latter irrespective of their running capacities and working pressures. We at  Thermodyne Boilers  had supplied and installed successfully these Mobrey (automatic water level controllers) to all our clients. For  smoke tube boilers , mobrey is fitted externally on the nozzles coming out of the s team boiler  shell curvature.  It consists of a hollow cylindrical unit in which a float hangs. So, when the feed pump works, it supplies feed water to the boiler shell and it gets filled up. From those nozzles, the water also enters the hollow cylin...

Why spirals are provided at the Idustrial Boiler Chimney

Chimney:- Chimney , as we know, is used to reject the flue gases to the atmosphere, coming from the Steam Boiler during operation. Also, it is a megastructure in Steam Boiler assembly and any discrepancy in its structural and foundation work can cause extremely serious damages, may even lead to casualties or plant shut off till its re-erection. The designer must consider all the factors while designing chimneys and one of the major factors amongst them is the wind factor. Blowing wind tries to overcome its static inertia but fails, if spirals are provided on the surface of the chimney. BUT THE QUESTION IS HOW????? Consider a chimneys (without spiral wings) , when the blowing wind comes in contact with its upstream surface, stagnation point (zero velocity) is achieved at that point i.e. pressure generated is high at that point and at the downstream end a vacuum is created as the wind coming in contact with the chimneys , gets deflected and meets after some point (wake regio...
